I think a big part of "these" problems is people don't know what their rights are and -- more importantly -- what they're legally required to comply with.
Well from that story she seems to have been charged because she went through the checkpoint and because she refused to give her details at the second stop. I guess she has to pay to replace her window now too.
It is interesting to see what you have to do versus what you think, or in the case of another woman, she was expecting that the cops had to provide their name, rank, and place of deployment in writing. It turns out that they don't have to write it down, but can just tell you. She was then going to ask that another cop arrest them for failing to provide those written details.
I would want to be pretty confident with my knowledge before I started questioning what a cop was asking. At the minimum I would want to have a decent lawyer on tap to tell me the reality versus what i thought.
Its all fun and games trying to tie people up in knots in a random conversation but its a very different story trying to argue with a cop or a magistrate.
