The back beach bushland it is still a untouched nature reserve and it serves among otherthings for the Edward Island bird life! And as you might not be aware Edward Island is zoned as a nature reserve!

That proposed bush is hardly untouched, there are a myriad of foot tracks through there, rubbish, rabbits and foxes. I'm not sure what birds on the islands use that bush apart from the Ospreys. And they travel some distance to scavenge nesting material. Go look at the next on the tip of Ed Is. and it's full of interesting bits and bobs. All the other birds are on the islands to get away from mainland predators.

Look at the map, there will be a couple of walk paths and they naturally follow the valleys in the dunes.
Look at how far it is back from the water.

This thread started with how it will affect kiters at the point (false, nowhere near it) and back beach (no, it is well inland)

This is one of many reasons to protect the back beach and adjoining bushland.It will affect the kiters we can kite with 15 knots or
less and there will be swimmers in the water and there will be restrictions. Even if you don't think there will be people swimming, there are quite
alot of people that do swim on a hot day in the wind. If its further south they will be swimming at the back beach surf area, where not many people
kite, which would spread out the people on the coast strip and make it good for everyone

You just proved why it is a great location.

The new caravan park is 500m south of the kiters
Then the surfers at back beach another 500m - 1km south of that.

They are sticking this park closest to the least used part of the beach in lano! Perfect!!

Why are all these kite surfers and windsurfers complaining about the back beach and how the new caravan park will effect them, it wont because your not suppose to be wind and kite surfing their anyway, you're suppose to be on the point. I 100% dont want this new caravan park, because i love my home town just the way it is, it shouldnt need more money, its fine as it is!

From the plan it looks like the site is set back far enough to protect the dunes. The more of these sort of sites we have up and down the coast the better I believe. It might make it more affordable to take the family on Hols in WA. We in the west are too quick to shoot down developers and people with a bit of vision for the future. That's why there is nothing here. That's why the place is boring as bat s!!t. That's why it's cheaper to go to Bali. That's why the bogans have wrecked all the old spots that where free. Put a development like this in every coastal town From Perth to Exmouth I say. Heck we couldn't get a board walk past council from trigg to scabs because a bunch of old biddies were worried about the rats living in the scrub. Humans first I say.

Not sure what you are basing that on, the only restrictions SoG have is on vehicles on certain parts of some beaches between Queens Birthday weekend and the end of April holidays, and they don't want kite activities in the park next to Werner. On the water SoG have no restrictions in place anywhere (and nor do Dept of Transport).

I lived in Lancelin through 70's to 90's and there was always development proposals. At one stage there was going to be a Cub Med Resort style accomodation built near the golf course. Then there was the huge development to be built around the Tavern. The even bigger development on the North end caravan park site. I'm sure there have been plenty of more proposals. As a former business owner in the town I was always for development , but every time I revisit the town nothing has really changed, it is still a very seasonal town. I had some of the best years of my life growing up in the town but I can't see any development happening until Lancelin becomes a Perth suburb and as I've seen before a proposal is just a proposal.
As for the changing of the dunes the Backbeach had a lot better surf banks when we could all drive our vehicles to the top of the current walk way.

Lancelin and WA for that matter are fine just the way they are. There is no need to turn Lancelin into a Bali or Perth into a Singapore. WA is special because you can easily get away from the bustle of the city to beautiful quiet places like Lancelin, where outside of the peak season you can have a pristine beach almost to your self. There are not many places in the developed world where you can do that. Try going for a kite, windsurf or surf in Sydney then you'll know what I mean. If WA is "boring as bat sh!t" why not go to Bali or Bondi or a million other places that are like that. WA is unique. Let's not screw it up in our overzealousness to be just like every other place.

I would like to meet a developer who is genuinely driven by a passion to turn the world into a better place rather than a passion for getting rich.

Having said that, I would rather see a caravan park for cheap family holidays than a Club Med for the rich.

Is there such a thing as a "cheap" family holiday in a caravan park anymore?

Used to love climbing up the tower to check out conditions before heading out and the Euro chicks sunbathing on the bonnet of my Hi lux

The first time I went to Lancelin was in September 1965.
There was almost nothing there except a few fishing huts and a fishing co-op shed.
The last 20 miles into Lancelin was a rough and rugged limestone road which shook the excrement out of both me and my old car.

I suppose the few people who lived there then thought that no further development was required or wanted.
They had it to themselves and they didn't want others to come in and mess it all up.

Then,.. others came in and maybe the original residents thought they messed it up.
And then the new residents didn't want others coming in because they thought they might mess it up.

Then,. others came in and,...
.etc etc,..
.
until today when,..

Nothing much has changed really.
It's still relatively undeveloped compared to all the other places that close to a capital city which is now bulging with about two million people.

Personally, I think it's a much better place to visit now than it was 50 years ago.

I had a look using my wife's facebook (I don't have one) and all I saw was a story about someone in a black bmw X5 driving right at a group on horseback and giving them the finger. Apparently one of the riders was on the pro-caravan park committee. I can only assume the driver was Annaspanna or other nimby

We just paid $2000 for a week in a house in Lano????? (Happy wife happy life)
