This is a bit like not paying for Petrol, or not paying for your weekly groceries...
The school is between a rock and hard place... If they aren't seen to be taking the tough line, then more parents will try and sneak the kids in (and not pay), on an assumption they may not get chased for the debt...

In my book, it's pretty simple, if you can't balance your own finances, plus send your kids to expensive schools... You're a fool!...

What I hear from tradie mates is the rich are the worst for not paying.
How to get rich - don't pay, make whingey vexatious complaints re: service or quality and refuse to pay, step on the little guy etc.
So being slack with paying the school for edumacating little Winston and Elizabeth - par for the course.

On the contrary many parents bust their guts put their kids through private school many working two jobs, sacrificing many luxuries and generally going without to get their kids through..... I imagine sometimes the bills just overwhelm them and they can't pay....
It's not an excuse and it should be regarded as any other unpaid debt should be.... However I highly doubt many if any deliberately don't pay.

Well if you get slugged with a $6000 penalty fee for pulling out early and $2000 worth of interest for not making payments on the original fee + the penalty then yes, what ever you do will never be enough.

Or are you saying the parents are taking the piss, so it is appropriate for a water sports forum?

...I'll see myself out.

yep , worst customers to pay their overdue accounts are always the ones with the money.
had a customer couldnt pay as he needed the money to put on his horse. when the horse came through and he got the big win , he still wouldnt pay, then i had to stand at his door and park behind the lexus when he wanted to take the kids to school. time taken to recover debt was the equivalent to 4hrs lost income

Worst to pay by far.
I don't think there would be a tradie alive that doesn't have a few war stories .

And the funny thing is that parents don't realise you don't need a private education for your kid to turn out well. All they need is a good upbringing and work ethic and that guess who teaches that, the parents.

private has advantages
simply put, it doesn't allow for the diversity in peer culture one would find in the public system.....with public system the culture between kids can get quite negative as it has to cater for all in society...

Yeah?

Funnily enough, I worked with a guy a few years back that lived in the same area, around the same age, but he went to a private school and I went to a public school.

Its a very multi-cultural area, and he was telling me of 'race-riots' and wars between people at his school. At my school, we had the usual fight or two, but no 'race-riots'. We just got along.

So, tell me again how negative the culture between kids can get with a public system?

Sure, I do agree it can have problems when there are the dregs of society trying to bring others down, but private still has problems.

Typical responses from people with jobs and a lifestyle. There are many ways to live in this capitalist system, and since they cheat on us with poor governance, insurance and general abuse of power, I say go for it. Rip them off back!

If bad customers are wording up bad customers, is that necessarily a bad thing ? (As long as you don't hit the news headlines :)

early on working for myself I helped out the down and out brother of a good customer by having him do some work. the job was a fixed price which he did well and on time. then kicked up a stink when he had to come round to pick up the money, then moaned that he was underpaid. .At the time I thought to myself , now i know why hes got no work.
the next time I turned up to do a Job for his sister I got told to **** off. then shortly after a business that was associated with them also told me not to come back. being an industrial estate it took about 5 years before I worked in that area again, which is about how long it takes bussinesses to move or go bust. one idiot cost me a few thousand in lost business
