Last few days the smoke in Perth has been terrible - worse pollution than in India.

Not happy,its affecting my breathing.

Yesterday my car was covered by dust from the burn off.

People are breathing these particles in. What's it doing to their health?

Saturday night and I can still smell the smoke. Another burn off again today.

You've never been to India have you Peter? Until we can't see the city from the hills or we are all bathing in the Swan River whilst covered in fecal matter, decomposing bodies and rubbish that makes Tamala Park look like a childs playground, i'd say we are doing OK.

Many of us have been affected in different ways, i know my wife had the inconvenience of rewashing our clothes the other day and you'll be made to clean your dusty car but i think if we asked 2 of my mates who lost their houses and possesions to bushfires in Yarloop and Roleystone, I think they'd tell us to stop being dickheads and stop complaining

Burn offs are better than being burnt alive. Unfortunately we can ask people, those that have died form fire, what their opinion may be.

My beloved is Asthmatic so the knocks her about but no more than having to put up with all the w4nkers with wood fires through winter.

Controlled burns as inconvenient as they are are far better than uncontrolled firestorms in in the peak of summer.

Living in the inner metro area makes people oblivious and ignorant to the real hazards of bush-fires fed by lots of fuel.

I suggest having a read of Kato's posts on the Victorian bush-fires which he was involved with, or going for a drive down to Yarloop and surrounding areas.

I know you can do it, Peter_Mac. How about digging up some anti-burn-off literature from some well-informed sources whom you have plenty in supply ?
