please excuse my noobness , but can anyone recommend a product to stop water droplets forming on my gopro housing and ruining my pictures?

RainX on the camera case mate or before you're about to shoot give it a lick (which is the old trick going around)

Yes a lick works short term. I've heard longer term, a cut spud rubbed on the lens Is the go.

I've not had success with rainX et al.

i once tried but i couldn't reach, so i get someone else to do it now

lick and spit. dome = wet port, not dry!

No noobness there mate.
Tried couple of above-mentioned tricks & products - no luck.

If it's windsurfing, I find changing the angle slightly, and giving it a good shake by roughing up the rig, helps on a clew-mount and mast-mount.
Nothing to be done if it's raining or on a board-mount.

Magic trick anyone??

I have resorted once, on a clew-mount, to asking a spectator on a nearby dock, to wipe it for me sort of on the fly... (thanks H).
Worked well, but not always a possibility...

spray bottle with a wetting agent such as dishwasher rinse aid, just a few drops.

same as in "the olden days of photography - which was not long ago!) with processing film, a few drop of wetting agent in the final rinse breaks the surface tension and stops drops forming on negatives.

I got hold of some Rainx and sprayed it up this morning , only about half hour before I hit the water. I could see the drops run off the case when I tested it under the tap straight after however what showed up on the final pics taken were large water blobs , rather than several water marks as before. Overall it was better , but not as good as I had hoped.

Im going to re spray the housing and let it sit for a day or so before I hit the water next time and see if that makes a difference. I'm wearing the camera on my wrist so the camera is in and out of the water as I paddle in and take off so there is a lot happening, fast .

Rub a fresh cut slice of apple on it. That is the old trick when your windscreen wipers bust.

Also works well on the interior of car windows to stop them fogging up.

I have not tried this on gopro but use Plexus spray on motor bike helmet visor all the time as it works great to clean of bugs with a quick spray and rub with soft cloth and rain cleared away quick (but that's with wind assistance)

I've had better luck with Finish rinse aid then the RainX. But since it is on your wrist, very easy just to lick it often, and also keep it wet. Bit harder when it is at the end of a board.

Half a spud , rub that on ! All will be good
