I'll be out of action for a few months with rehab shortly. So I'm thinking about getting a new toy to play with wile I'm a cripple.

Iv been looking at the phantoms they look cool and not over the top expensive.
My main concern is that i only want to film when it's windy. What wind speed could this drone handle?

Here in qld, we mostly get wind from 12 - 20 knots. Would I get away with this breed in these conditions, or would you suggest getting the much more expensive "inspire"?
I don't really want to spend $4k+ on drone that will be used over water.

Joel had a dji Pro with us at Lake Nadzab SA. We were kite buggying and land sailing so his drone was having to travel at high speeds in the winds your quoting.

I remember him saying the drone had prompted him "to return to home" with 1/2 it's battery remaining, as it had calculated it needed this amount of power to fly the 3 1/2 kms back into the 25kt head wind.

They will certainly handle these conditions and the footage taken was still silky smooth at 4k. He had to add filters to the camera though, as the white lake surface
was washing out a sharp image.

21m/s is 40Knots. Should be able to keep up and have enough in the tank to manoeuvre around someone kite surfing or other similar water sports.

I have a Phantom v2+. I've done a little filming of dinghy's and Windsurfing. But over 10 knots it just chews through battery power and you would be lucky to get more than 12 min airtime. Most importantly is that when my camera and gimbal failed and couldn't be fixed in Australia. I sent it back to DJI and then they lost it and denied that they ever received it. They are known for great tlys and crap service

seriously kemp get a slackline or something, drones are for checking if workers on minesites are sitting down rolling smokes and for ensureing everyone in the councils area has met theyre new swimming pool fence requirements (yes all your taxes and rates are going towards ****ing ****s flying drones over your houses then fineing you if your swimming pool fence isnt upto code...not to mention any gazebos or dope plants you have in the back yard!)

want to pay off your phantom? papparazzi photos of whoever you want will do that in a few short hours
