Absolutely. The choice to shop at either Coles or Woolies is a coin toss for a lot of people. This tips the balance in Coles favour. I reckon the impact must be huge.

I was wondering if Woolworths should just hit back with an identical campaign. Sure, everyone would see it is a copycat move....but they'd still all want to collect the set.

I don't get what the fascination is with it.

It's a great idea marketing genius it is maybe the fast food chains could catch on and offer a small useless toy with the garbage they package for kids.

I didn't really take any notice of this campaign as I have enough useless crap in my home. However a few events happened shaking me out of my ignorance. I shopped at Coles and our purchases came just under $30. The cashier said we could buy something at the checkout to get out mini thing. We declined. One of my wife's friends said her kids were mad for these mini things. Thirdly I'm a member of a Facebook marketplace group and every second post is from people buying or swapping or wanting these mini collectables.

Its the latest craze, that's for sure. Yes its similar to the McDonalds happy meal stuff, but it seems to be more successful.

Within one week Coles mini things made my childrens' school newsletter. Kids trading them, and related dsiputes/distractions, had become a major issue in that period of time.

She's nearly 4 and has camped with me in tents and swags, she's done more kms along our coastline in those 4 years than you, been in the bush, caves, beaches and 4wding more times than i can count and is the most adventurous kid i know.

I'm pretty sure a coles mini toy isn't going to hurt her

Doubtful but I won't enter an argument with a 4 year old, like I said parents have different priorities with their kids, sounds like your doing a good job, Me and the missus gave up everything and I mean everything to spend quality time with our kids in 4 different country's
However I've never been a fan of gimmicks and if I turned the clock back I wouldn't get or have my kids involved in such trivial crap
some people are for that kind of thing others aint

Pure genius by Coles as I'm assuming by the way they conduct business the suppliers actually paid for their own mini's, not Coles.

I wonder how many kids have choked on these things.
Honestly if theycame from china as a toy it would have to have a warning label as choking hazzard .
Not suitable for children under 10 but they are marketed at kids .
We live in a nanny state yet coles can get around that probably because its classed as a collectable & not a toy .

Was in Coles this morning buying normal sized edible things, in the milk section and a little snotty nosed fella probably the 4 yrs old calling his grandma a dumb ass! Prob coz he didn't get his mini piece of plastic or missed home and away

Even the Nutella and Oak that everyone said were hard to get. And I didn't need to spend $30 to get each one, some were under $2. Huh, what do you mean they're too big?

I said "Yeah... but like actual food, you can eat."
