I watched the first episode of 'Bodyguard'. I didn't watch it all the way through as it started getting into the fake drama personal interaction type of stuff which I find too much like a soap opera. Do people actually like that? To me that's a replacement for actual content.
Netflix makes it worse as I fast forward through that stuff and then end up not watching the show anyway.
Dear Seabreeze book club members,
Ep 1 of Bodyguard spends the first 20 mins establishing that the hero is truly a hero. Then the rest of the episode sets up the females who are going to compete for his attention. I was beginning to think that we had a new ground breaking bit of TV happening here. One where the novel that takes 8 hours to read isn't condensed to a 90 minute telemovie, but takes the full 8 hours to get through.
It takes Ep 2 before the coincidences/plot gets ludicrous enough to promote laughter. Towards the end, it turns out that one of the 40 something women who are fighting over the hero thinks that he's a male stripper in a police uniform that she gas dragged home from a hens' night.
I've decided to call it "Bawdyguard" from now on.
