Hi all

Just a quick question for anyone that owns a shark shield.I got mine last week and plugged it in to charge but it was fully charged. I went swimming with it for about 30mins and when I got back, plugged it into the charger. Still says its fully charged.The red light and green light are both on and solid when plugged into the charger. Are both lights supposed to be on when charged or just the green? Does the unit need to be drained below a certain point before it will accept being charged?

While extensive testing has been performed, and great care taken to develop and manufacture the Shark Shield range of products, it is impossible to guarantee that all sharks will be deterred under all circumstances. Water based activities in the presence of sharks is inherently dangerous; therefore, we recommend that if a shark is sighted, the user gets to safety rather than continue with their water activity.


Charging your Shark Shield
1. The charger will need to be assembled prior to the first charge. Select the correct charger mains pins for your region and then slide them onto the charger, making sure they click securely into place.

2. Ensure the Shark Shield device is turned Off by turning the red ON/OFF KNOB in an anti clockwise direction until the position indicator line is on the opposite side to the line on the Shark Shield casing. In the Off position the Shark Shield LEDs should not be illuminated.

3. Connect the charger plug to the two charger pins on the Shark Shield.

4. A flashing RED LED will appear when the Shark Shield is charging.

5. A solid GREEN LED will appear when the Shark Shield is fully charged. Note: A full charging cycle takes approximately 4 to 5 hours.

My issue is that when i plug it in to the charger after draining some of the battery through use, it still says its fully charged and wont let me charge it to 100%

Ok, just did an experiment.

Fully discharged the battery in a salt water bucket for 5 hours. Battery completely flat, plugged it into charger, red and green light on solid. No flashing red light.

No idea if it is charging or not.

Now i have a flat battery with possibly no way to charge it.

Bugger, i used to avoid dangling my legs when it looked sharky. Wotked for me. But i cant gaurentee that either.

Freedom 7? Make sure its switched off then plug it should come up red if requires When fully charges becomes green. There was an issue with the older models and the main switch. The switch is magnetic and runs thru the water sealed case. What colour is the on/off toggle? red? Did you purchase it new or used? Id plug mine in but mates taken it down south along with my dive tanks.
You know if its switch on Jump in the water and grab it with your bare hands if you feel the fillings in your teeth its working.
If you have to do an emergency ascension wearing a shark shield with a non integrated weight belt make sure you hold out your weight at arms length well clear of the body and legs before ditching. There has been entanglement issues. A lot of people drill a hole in the back of their flipper and run it tru there.

It is a Freedom 7, the freediving version with the long antenna. It definitely works, had fun shocking myself in the bath tub :P Bought it brand new last week.

The charger is hot so I assume that means it is charging. There is no flashing red light, just solid red and solid green.

The on/off switch is red. No idea how old it is, the only clue is that the manual is v1.2 copyright 2016. The box is a picture of a dude in a wetsuit standing on a rock looking at the sea.

Ok, I think I have figured it out.

He must have sent me the latest freedom 7c with an old manual. I downloaded the latest shark shield manual v1.5 and it says:

4. A flashing RED LED will appear when the Shark Shield is charging GU1000B and solid RED LED on the GU1000C
5. A solid GREEN LED will appear when the Shark Shield is fully charged on GU1000B and the solid GREEN LED will turn off when fully charged on the GU1000C.

Cool stoned there a great product They have great customer service aswel witch is unusual for a company. Another point of interest is Just be conscious that the tail can get wedged onto reef. been pinned down a few times swimming over hard structure . Pic is amateur but gives you an idea You must be aware that you may need to ditch it and bail.

I'll watch out for it

If it's a lithium-ion battery, you've possibly stuffed it if you fully discharged it. They get damaged if you take them below about 3 volts per cell.

I'd keep a close eye on it recharging and look out if it starts to expand.
