We all acknowledge that without umpires in our sport we'd be quite literally 'up the creek without a paddle'! It's been two years since the last umpiring training course was held in WA and with an ever increasing strain on the current pool to meet demand, another umpiring course has been scheduled for August. It is pleasing to note that with increased interest and following in team racing and match racing younger sailors are now putting up their hands to take on umpire training which is just as well with a dearth of umpires currently experienced in WA.
