Organisers of the 52nd Annual Toronto International Boat Show aim to demonstrate that getting into boating is easy with seminars, experts, boating identities and displays.

From January 9-17, hourly seminars will be offered to entertain, educate and inspire novice and experienced boaters alike. Boating experts from throughout the world will offer Toronto Boat Show visitors everything from boating basics to spellbinding boating adventures.

'Boating enthusiasts of all types can attend dozens of daily free seminars that touch upon every boating subject imaginable,' said Cynthia Hare, show manager. 'New boaters can learn about practical things like tying knots while experienced enthusiasts can find out what it takes to cruise the Pacific Northwest or The Great Loop. And those just looking to be fascinated can listen to tales of adventure, including how two marines went 1400 miles through the Northwest Passage in an open boat.'

Featured seminars at the 2010 Toronto International Boat Show include 'Wind is a Four Letter Word: A Skipper's Wife Reveals Her Perspective on a Circumnavigation', hosted by Heather Bacon.

Heather sailed around the world but considers herself 'a sailor by marriage'. She will share the trepidation and challenges she faced in following her husband's dream. She offers practical advice and coping techniques for women while acknowledging the rewards of the cruising life.

Ron Bianchi will speak about 'Weather and the Mariner'. Ron has been teaching Weather to Mariners for over 20 years and at most of the GTA Yacht Clubs and Sailing Schools. Meteorologist, Sailor, lecturer, and genuine believer in mind-opening encounters with the science of Meteorology and how to use it on the water.

Then there's '1400 Miles Through The North West Passage In A Small Open Boat', held by Kevin Jeffrey. This seminar tells the epic story of last summer's Arctic Mariner Expedition. Two British Royal Marines sailed, rowed, and when necessary, dragged their 17.5 ft. open boat across the ice in a historic 1400-mile voyage through the Arctic's Northwest Passage. It took them 42 days, and along the way they encountered charging bears, curious whales, and the warm, friendly people who inhabit Canada's north.

'A Women's Guide to Safe Boating: Tips You Need to Know to Feel Comfortable on the Water', will be led by seasoned boater, Lori Mason. On the water since she was 4-years-old, Mason has been teaching Boating Safety for the past 15 years. After learning that many women married to boaters knew little or nothing about the operation of a boat, she created the Women on the Water Series to provide women with practical insight into how to handle a boat in case of emergencies and for smooth sailing to any port of call.
