On Saturday, experience outsailed youth in the opening flights of the Tasmanian match racing championship on the River Derwent. Today, however, youth came to fore with 18-year-old Elliott Noye and his young crew outsailing two senior teams to become the champions and win a berth in the Australian title to be sailed in Hobart in November. Noye and his crew, Mathew Himson (21) and Edward Snowball (19) finished third in the lead-up round-robin of races, with six wins out of eight races, while the more experienced match racing skippers Rod Chamberlain and Nick Rogers each scored seven wins.
