The 2009 Soling World Championship in a spectacular sunny and windy day at the Ontario lake.
Racing started and PRO Steve Reid even with trouble to anchor pin end boat managed to place the two scheduled races for today.
It was initially instable but the wind build up from Northeast and the more to the East starting with a shiny 10 knot lots of big waves but it kept increasing till reach gusts of 20. Surfing and washing the crew at the beats was a must. Many were not prepared for the occasion, and during the interval inbetween races they got cold, sick and left their marks in the lake.
It was a perfect day for the current European Championship Team Marinepool GER 300 with Koch, Koch and Bornemann who took the only two bullets available.
The first race had the Dutch VYGames team Den Outer, Hoekstra and Verduyn placing second followed by another Dutch team TT UFO with Offermans, Norman and Kerr.
But at the second race with a bit more wind, Canadian team CAN 225 with Hall, Carrigan and Flinn followed the maremma boys(GER 300) and had at their tows the Odds and Ends with Abbot, Davis and Abbott.
The after races today were a barbecue just after the daily prize given and included ribs and chicken, with salad, and once sailors were satisfy they all went to a the Weather forecast seminar dictated by Ron Bianchi.
Forecast predicts similar conditions to Thursday, so far till tonight no new amendments in the SI, and races are scheduled for 1100 am, just after a nice breakfast offered by the EYC. Two races are scheduled to continue this 2009 Soling World Championship
