Sanyo Maris along with J Steel Yeah Baby have withdrawn their applications to enter the 2009 Rolex Sydney Hobart.
Sanyo Maris, the classic Tasman Seabird owned by Tiare Tomaszewski, Ian Kiernan and John Green officially withdrew its Rolex Sydney Hobart application for entry yesterday due to the fact a number of the boat's regular crew are not available for this year's race.
Last year she retired from the race with a broken gooseneck.
'It is with a very heavy heart that we have withdrawn our entry from the Rolex Sydney Hobart,' said Tiare Tomaszewski. 'After our success in the Gosford to Lowe Howe Island race, we were looking forward to tackling the Rolex Sydney Hobart. As we were one of the smallest boats in the fleet and the oldest, we had specific crew requirements. Unfortunately with a number of our regular crew unavailable for this year's race, Sanyo Maris has withdrawn from the Rolex Sydney Hobart.
'We wish all the competitors are safe passage to Hobart and we will see you all next year,' concluded Tomaszewski.
J Steel Yeah Baby (Marc Ryckmans) withdrew for much the same reasons.
The fleet is 110 strong and as usual will prove to be a spectacular day on the waters of Sydney Harbour on Boxing Day.
