The wind had a sleep-in the day after New Year's Day and refused to get out of bed for the fourth day of the Australian Sabot Championships at Gosford.

Fortunately Sabot Week competitors managed to get a race in early afternoon with a light, dying breeze ahead of a forecast southerlie change for the final day.

For the national championship fleet it was a case of waiting on shore for enough breeze for a race but instead the Brisbane Water became a millpond and the kids went swimming.

Meanwhile in the 40-strong Sabot Week, South Queenslander Zane Comadira in Conquistador nailed his sixth win to seal an unassailable lead in the senior fleet followed by teammate Nick Utick in Airwave. Conrad Byrt, also from South Queensland, is in third spot, with a fourth placing in race seven. Tasmanian Gabriel Morrison recorded another third placing in race seven.

In the junior division of Sabot Week, the seventh race was won by steady improvers Queensland's Seamus Byrt and Danielle Hughes in Bad Boy, followed by South Queensland's Hugho Van Buuren and Anto Van Burren in Irish Logik and regatta leaders Stephanie Markey and Ben Markey in Wahoo, also from South Queensland.

In the national championship, it is likely that three races will be held on day five, with an earlier start planned. Good luck to all competitors on the final day.

The 46th national championships have been supported by gold sponsors Robson Civil Projects and Performance Sailcraft Australia along with silver sponsors Zhik and Ronstan.
