If you missed sailing in the Worlds in late September in Newport, Rhode Island, being a spectator at the regatta, watching the big screen premier of Jobson Sailing's film at the Jane Pickens Theater on November 6 or the premier on ESPN Classic on November 7, you missed an incredible experience.
The skies were blue, the memories were flowing, the competition was fierce, the sailing legends, both on the water and on land, were many and the 17 classic 12 Metres on the starting line of the Candy Store Cup was totally amazing. There were more 12 Metres here than competed in Newport during the 1983 America's Cup. These 2009 12 Metre Worlds were a treat for anyone who loves sailing.
It is not too late. The DVD of The Golden Year of 12 Metres is now available for $25 a copy (international shipping extra). This film was produced and narrated by Gary Jobson. Gary brings you through a history of 12 Metre and America's Cup action with extensive footage of the 2009 12 Metre World Championships and interviews with sailors and 12 Metre Legends who were in Newport, RI for this six day event.

. You can enjoy the memories and you won't even get wet. The only negative is that you will miss tasting the champagne on the dock at Bannister's Wharf! 12 Metres. still elegant, still racing.
