RYA and NSSA combine forces for Youth Sailing

10:45 PM Wed 13 Jan 2010 GMT
The RYA and the National Schools Sailing Association (NSSA) have agreed to combine forces to encourage more young people into sailing by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the presence of HRH The Princess Royal today (Wednesday 13 January).

The MoU which was signed at the Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show begins a new era of closer co-operation between the two organisations enabling them to provide a unified 'voice for youth sailing.'

The RYA Youth Sailing Scheme and Onboard Programme will be the joint schemes of choice that both parties will work together to promote.

The MoU was signed by Rod Carr OBE, RYA Chief Executive and Chris Lowe, Vice Chairman of the NSSA.

Rod Carr says: 'The RYA and NNSSA want to provide a single voice that represents and speaks for the widest cross section of the sailing community in dealings with schools, teachers, parents and students thereby providing a unified approach to growing and sustaining regular sailing participation.'

Chris Lowe says: 'We are very excited to continue making plans with the RYA to encourage more young people to learn to sail. We look forward to working together in future years.'
