Volunteer Robert Dyer of the Myall Lakes and Port Stephens User Group was today awarded a 2010 NSW Maritime Medal for his sustained and voluntary contribution to the State's boating community. NSW Maritime Chief Executive Steve Dunn presented Mr Dyer with his medal aboard the Tall Ship James Craig, at the official presentation of the 2010 Maritime Medals. Mr Dyer initiated the concept for the Broughton Island Marine Radio Base which has provided island users and government agencies direct communication during emergency situations since 2004.
