In near perfect sailing conditions, the racing commenced for the Morris Finance Geelong Masters Games on Corio Bay today. Due to strong winds racing was abandoned on Monday, forcing racing organisers to schedule 3 races for both Tuesday and Wednesday.

A southerly 15 - 18 knots greeted the fleet which remained steady all day, which was a blessing for all on the water.

Three bullets today to Michael Boode's Moth Hydrophobic (3 points) puts him firmly on top of the leader board with Matthew Kee's Contender Maho second on 7 points, and Daddy's Boat (Roger Kennett) very close behind on 8 points. In the multi hull group, Garry Johnstone's Mosquito Bear Talk holds onto first with 5 points, with Chris Parker's, A Class Cat, Dirty Little Secret second on 8 points. Two mosquito's are then vying for third place, No Turbulence (Ross Bennett) and Bee Alert (Peter Nikitin), both sitting on 9 points. Similar conditions are predicted for Wednesday's 3 races.

Post race, the fleet were priviliged to hear well known Australian sailor and yachting journalist Vanessa Dudley speak at a dinner held at Royal Geelong Yacht Club. She reflected on her sailing career through a presentation of images on slide show, with key highlights of her racing in an assortment of classes from small to large yachts, from lasers, skippering 18ft skiffs and her 15 Sydney to Hobart Yacht races. A night enjoyed by all. She hopes to join the fleet here in Geelong in 2011.
