'Marine Rescue NSW - doing the job' .
Marine Rescue NSW is now accepting new members. As a Marine Rescue NSW volunteer you'll be joining over 2,000 trained professionals who share your commitment to helping the community in a marine environment.
To become a volunteer you need to be aged 18 and over. We hope to begin a cadet program in the coming months for under 18's. Some activities you can do once you have joined up: become a crewman, a radio operator, a skipper of a rescue vessel, help to fundraise, and enjoy the social life amongst a friendly team of community service orientated people.

From here, please phone your nearest Marine Rescue NSW unit www.marinerescuensw.com.au/media/docs/List_of_all_Units_inc_Phone_Jul09.pdf . You will be invited to pop in for a cuppa and a chat about what we do, what is involved, commitment levels, etc,.. if Marine Rescue is for you, you can complete the necessary paperwork at the unit.

If you have previously registered your interest, you will shortly receive an email from us with a Membership Application Form attached. Or, the form can be downloaded www.marinerescuensw.com.au/media/docs/List_of_all_Units_inc_Phone_Jul09.pdf

Skills:
If you have marine skills already... GREAT. If not, we can teach you everything from the ground up including getting your NSW Maritime Boating Licence, First Aid and your Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency. In addition, we are always keen to recruit people with administration skills including accountancy and other backgrounds including engineering, electrical, carpentry and plumbing to assist in the smooth running of a Unit.

Lastly, as our organisation works on a very high level of trust within your local community, all new applicants for volunteer membership of Marine Rescue NSW are required to undergo a National Criminal History Record Check (CrimTrac) prior to being offered membership. The mere existence of a criminal record will not alone or necessarily disqualify you from membership. The necessary forms will be given to you when you visit your local unit.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you aboard.
