Competition among Manly 16ft Skiff Club's fleet is predicted to be tighter than usual over the 2010/11 season - but it was two familiar names at the head of the pack when the new campaign got underway on Saturday. In a fresh 20-25 knot nor easter, Fire Stopping (James Dorron) saw off Fluid Building Services (Clint Bowen) with Aero Sails (Gerard Smith) claiming third. It was a typical nip and tuck race between the two front-runners with Fire Stopping forced to come from behind and work hard to get the honours in a solid first-up hit out for the fleet.
