Near perfect offshore conditions prevailed to allow Tony Considine's super slippery 10 meter Grainger designed catamaran, Mad Max to make full use of its huge power to weight advantage and take a solid line houours win in Fridays opening race of the 2009 APC Logistics Lock Crowther multihull regatta.

Considered to be one of the fastest multihulls in Australia, Mad Max was never headed once it cleared the start. The big 12.5 meter Crowther cat Quickstep was second across the line followed by the 9.5 meter Grainger cat Indian Chief. The all important OMR rating handicap was a trifecta for Australia's leading multihull designer, Tony Grainger. His designs took the first three OMR placings.

Darren Drew's sports car red catamaran, Indian Chief took the main handicap prize from Mad Max and Steve Barton's 9 meter trimaran Big Bird coming in third. Performance handicap results were Quickstep from Mad Max and Indian Chief. Racing continues today with two in shore races within Pittwater and Broken Bay.

The forecasted windy conditions will make for some exciting racing for the 25 - 30 expected starters.
