12:31 AM Sat 12 Sep 2009 GMT Kitesurfers Ben Morrison-Jack and James Weight left Cape Grim, near Stanley on Tasmania's North West tip to attempt the first kitesurfing, non-stop, unassisted crossing of Bass Strait.
'The trip couldn't have gone better, apart from the wind dying down in the last kilometre,' Morrison-Jack is quoted by AAP as saying.
The pair made the trip in just under 12 hours.
Ben's father Stuart Morrison-Jack told AAP 'they changed the landing point because the weather changed and the wind is coming more from the south than southwest.'
The pair had a support boat crewed by Grant Wharington and Graham Taylor, follow them across Bass Strait.
