Earlier this week the media were treated to a couple of hours sailing aboard Alfa Romeo, Neville Crichton's champion supermaxi, which is widely expected to take line honours and the race record in the upcoming HSBC Coastal Classic, which will be contested by around 200 yachts.
We present an image gallery for the day, and will be running other stories on Alfa Romeo as she builds up to the Rolex Sydney Hobart. The offshore racing classic is shaping up to be the Supermaxi World Championship and Sailing's version of the Bledisloe Cup rolled into one, with five supermaxi's competing - Wild Oats, Skandia, ICAP Leopard, Maximus and Alfa Romeo.
Coming off the back of a win and race record in the Transpac Race, Alfa Romeo is in Auckland to both compete in the Coastal Classic and complete preparations for the Rolex Sydney Hobart, which included having
Southern Spars
key professionals check over her new four spreader rig.
