Yachting Australia is providing IRC Measurers to perform measurement checks at the Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta.
Middle Harbour Yacht Club and Yachting Australia are working together on this initiative to have IRC measurement and equipment checking prior to and during the event, including checking IRC boats immediately after racing.
Whilst it is expected that most boats will comply with their ratings, this will help IRC boat owners feel confident that they are racing on the fairest possible terms in what is one of Australia's highest profile events.
Boat owners competing in the IRC divisions can refer to the event website and official notice board to view the notice to competitors.
Yachting Australia hopes the success of this exercise will encourage more clubs and organising authorities to do the same at their events. Given the supportive feedback from IRC boat owners received by Yachting Australia so far, measurement checking may become more common place at significant events.
