International interest is expected with Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Cruising Yacht Club of Australia scheduling their two major women's match racing events in a back to back format in March 2010.
The Notices of Race for both events are now available and it is expected that several international teams will make the journey south to join the Aussies and the Kiwis for their local events. The first event is the RNZYS hosted New Zealand Women's Match Racing Championship which will be held from 3-7 March. Teams will then have two days before racing starts at CYCA in Sydney for the Harken Women's International Match Racing Regatta with a training day scheduled on 9 March and racing from 10-13 March.
The women's match racing calendar is filling up with events in the lead up to the 2012 Olympics with Women's Match Racing a new discipline to be included in sailing. The Australian and New Zealand events are also hot items on the calendar as both regattas will be sailed on Elliott 6s which are similar to the equipment chosen for the 2012 Olympics.
