Etihad Stadium is the new naming rights partner for the Wild Thing Supermaxi.
Twenty five names went in the barrel at a breakfast party this morning at 3AW in Melbourne eagerly anticipating the draw with Ross and John right after the 8am news.
Representatives from each of the companies were at 3AW bright and early to place their names on a ball to go into the barrel - a process scrutineered by Yachting Australia president Andrew Plympton.
All names were accounted for and ticked off before Ross and John had a great chat with Grant and Andrew about the Amazing Naming Rights project and the Rolex Sydney to Hobart yacht race before John got his arm working on the barrel and with both eyes closed, reached in to pick the winning ball to hand over to Andrew Plympton for the big announcement.
And the winner was ........... Etihad Stadium
There was absolute delight for one brand, and a momentary letdown for the others - but not for long - because everyone's a winner with this project.
All the supporters of the Amazing Naming Rights project will all be getting their taste of the Supermaxi in the new year when they take out clients, family and friends on a Corporate Sail in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
With the announcement made, the massive branding exercise is underway with signwriters working overtime to get the hull branded before the boat leaves for Sydney on a fully crewed race mode delivery from Melbourne the Sydney.
The massive square topped mainsail will be trucked to Sydney overnight to Terry Wetton Signs where Terry will be working his magic to transform it into the Etihad Stadium billboard ready to be unveiled on Boxing Day.
