On Day one of the 2009 Etchells North American titles two races were sailed. Good conditions On Day two, allowed three races to be sailed and Beckmann was the most consistent of the leading group, taking second place in the third race in the series behind fellow US sailor Keith Longson, then second behind Bob Stevens, who bounced back from an OCS in the previous race. In the third race of the day, Beckmann sailed his current series drop a handy fifth place.
