Ideal conditions for competitors in Heat 3 of the Club Marine Series on Saturday 5th December, with south-east to southerly winds of around 8-10kn and a clear sky.

In Division 0's morning race, it was Calm that showed pace to take out the IRC win over Living Doll and Veloce. XLR8 performed strongly in Performance Handicap to take the win from Calm and Veloce.

For the afternoon race, the Division 1 fleet joined with the Division 0 fleet over on the western course. A clear start for Division 0 and Living Doll quickly jumped to the lead, which they held onto for the rest of the race, taking Line Honours in just under 2 hours. Living Doll also took out the IRC Division over Calm and Cougar II. XLR8 performed well to narrowly take out the Performance Handicap division from Chutpah and Audi Centre Melbourne.

The Division 1 fleet were very eager at their start resulting in a general recall. A clear second start, and it was the Beneteau First 45's Ikon and Reverie that jumped away, with Challenge also well placed up the first leg. Unfortunately mainsail problems for Ikon later in the race resulting in their retirement, whilst Reverie cleared out for a strong Line Honours win, backed up with a win on IRC and a 3rd on AMS. Executive Decision also sailed a strong race to win AMS and placed 2nd. Challenge continued to show their strong form in this series to be the first Sydney 38 across the line as well as a 3rd on IRC. Swordfish Trombone had a good race with a 2nd AMS. On Performance Handicap, Barnstormer performed very well to win from Clockwork and Just a Minor Hickup.

Going into the new year, with 3 race days now complete in the series, and exclusing any drops, it is Calm that holds a 1 point advantage over Cougar II in Division 0 IRC, whilst XLR8 holds a strong position on Performance Handicap. In Division 1, Challenge holds a narrow 2 point lead over Executive Decision in IRC, with the two boats also equal leaders on AMS. In performance handicap, it is Audacious in a strong position. In Division 2, Surprise is leading IRC from Godzilla who is also well out in front of AMS. Stitched Up is leading Performance Handicap. In Division 3, Intrusion and Footloose are equal leaders in IRC, with Rhiannon leading AMS and Double Malt narrowly leading Performance Handicap.
