Canadian Yachting Association
The Canadian Yachting Association added to its bench last weekend with two key appointments to support the increased focus on finance and international sailing results.

Christine Searle, an Ottawa native, member of the Nepean Sailing Club and past Chair of the CYA's Women and WIND committee joins the board with an impressive financial background. A CMA and past treasurer of Ontario Sailing, Searle will add the much needed and increased diligence on the financial front. A recreational sailor and a certified race officer add to her resume as a knowledgeable member of the sailing fraternity.

On the performance side, John Kerr, former Olympian and Olympic Medalist, winner of three European Championships and numerous other titles in the Soling class will support board direction and provide the much needed insight on increasing Canada's performance results globally. Kerr is a member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. John is also the CEO of Kerrwil Publications Limited, publishers of Canadian Yachting and Sail-World Canada.

The new CYA board structure of just eight directors enters its second year with a focus on governance policy and strategic direction for the association. With these recent appointments, the CYA board has a well-rounded and experienced focus to support its committee structures in athlete development, finance and training.
