The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, together with the naming rights sponsor Audi Australia, is pleased to advise the notice of race and entry form for its well-established Audi Winter Series is now available.

In a first for the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, online entries will be accepted for this ever popular series. The notice of race and entry form can be accessed online at www.cyca.com.au/editorial.asp?key=761 .

The Audi Winter Series commences with the traditional Ladies Day and Great Veteran's Race on Sunday 18th April, followed by the 13 pointscore races for eight spinnaker, two non-spinnaker and Sydney 38OD divisions. The Series concludes with the final Ladies Day Race on 25th July.

In last year's Audi Winter Series, entries peaked at 208 yachts across eleven divisions; with an average of 150 yachts racing on Sydney Harbour each Sunday.

Naming rights sponsor, Audi, is back for the fourth year supporting this well-subscribed winter event and as ever, the company will ensure that all sailors have the chance to benefit from the company's sponsorship by providing its brand new Audi A5 Sportback as a prize car each week. The owner of the winning yacht will get the opportunity to test drive this just-launched five-door coupe, before returning the car at the end of the week to the next winning owner.

Audi's Managing Director, Mr Uwe Hagen, said the brand's sponsorship of the Audi Winter Series is an important part of the company's Audi Sailing Sport strategy as it directly targets a key group of yachtsmen and women who are dedicated to their sport - sailing every single winter Sunday for three months.

'We look forward to another successful series in 2010. And of course, we want to encourage the participation of as many yachts as possible in this great competitive event,' Mr Hagen said.

Looking forward to another action packed season Garry Linacre, Rear Commodore and Chairman of the Sailing Committee, encouraged yacht owners to enter and participate in the Audi Winter Series 2010. 'Racing is highly competitive every Sunday with the Audi Winter Series divisional winners often being determined by performances in the final pointscore race.'

The Great Veterans Race, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia's annual tribute to those classic Sydney Hobart Yacht Race yachts that sailed south in the 1940s, 1950s, 1960 and 1970s, will be held on Sunday 18th April 2010 to mark the opening of the Audi Winter Series.

The Great Veterans Race is open for entry to yachts that have competed in a Sydney Hobart Race and are over 30 years of age. The race is a non-spinnaker race, sailed in a relaxed atmosphere, around the harbour. The CYCA is now seeking entries from owners of eligible yachts to compete in this year's race for the historic Windward Trophy and to join the regular competitors on the opening day of the Audi Winter Series on Sydney Harbour.

This will be Audi's fourth year as naming rights sponsor of the CYCA's Winter Series and once again, all divisional placegetters will go in the draw to drive a luxury Audi A5 Sportback for the week; as well as great Musto gear for the top three in each division.
