A?man,?aged?in?his?early?40s,?was?injured?while?starting?his?30ft?fibreglass?motor?cruiser?at the fuel wharf at?Empire Marina?Bobbin?Head, Sydney,?on Thursday morning.?The?vessel was not?being?fuelled?at?the?time. ?

The?fire?was?quickly?contained?and?extinguished?by?marina?staff?and?there?was?no?damage?to?the?marina?or?other vessels.?

The?NSW?Fire?Brigade,?Ambulance,?Police?and?National?Parks?arrived?quickly?on?the?scene?and?the?man?was stabilised and airlifted to hospital by helicopter.?

Stephen?Smith,?the?manager?of?the?marina,?was?one?of?the?first?on?the?scene?and?helped?extinguished?the?fire.

"A?fire?on?a?marina?is?a?risk?we?train?for?and?the?procedures?were?successfully?put?to?the?test?today"?said?Mr Smith. "?The rapid response of the?marina?staff and the?emergency services?prevented?the?fire?from?escalating and enabled support and first aid?to be provided quickly to the injured man,?whom?we?hope?will?make?a?full?recovery."
