The Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIA) has elected a new president and vice-president to lead it into 2010.
David Heyes has been elected President, with Andy Warner as Vice-President, both elected unopposed.
Former president Gordon Howlett has retired after three years to take up another senior industry position and devote more time to his business.
David Heyes is in his 15th year on the Board, and has served seven terms as vice-president.
He entered the marine industry in 1972 when he joined Bombardier distributor Heytrack (Australia) Pty Ltd, ultimately serving as General Manager and CEO. He is Executive Director Public & Regulatory Affairs for BRP Australia and foundation president of the recently formed Australian Marine Engine Council Inc. (AMEC).
Andy Warner is an Australian naval architect with a lifetime of small boat experience, and joined the Board last year after the retirement of his brother, BIA Life Member Chris Warner.
He is chairman of board of directors of Anchor Marine and a Member of Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), and is a keen yachtsman, sailing off the beach dinghies and large ocean keel yachts.
