In an attempt to improve the competitor experience, the Audi Victoria Week (AVW) executive has introduced a significant change to the format for 2010. The Invitational will now showcase the best of the best in two divisions; Grand Prix and Production.
The Production class has been added in light of global trends and early season IRC results. The new class will boast a maximum of ten well performed production boats in the 12-14m length range.
The change will result in closer racing for all competitors, and in the mind of the AVW Executive, a more representative showcase of IRC racing in Australia.
The final list for the Grand Prix division: Living Doll (Vic), Scarlet Runner (Vic), Cougar II (Vic), Quest (NSW), Calm (Vic), Goldfinger (Vic), Shogun (Vic), Secret Mens Business (SA), Audi Centre Melbourne (Vic) and Ocean Skins (Vic).
The Production division is expected to be announced on November 30. Those invited to express interest include; Too True (SA), Canute (NSW), Auch (Tas), Wicked (Vic), Honeysuckle (NSW), Balance (NSW) Reverie (Vic) and Paca (NSW).
Extasea (VIC) and Voodoo Chile (Tas) have already expressed interest and will be invited.
'On behalf of the organising authority I congratulate invitees in Grand Prix and thank all owners who expressed interest in the 2010 Audi Docklands Invitational,' Event Coordinator Doug Jarvis said.
The five race invitation only series, which kicks off Audi Victoria Week, is scheduled for Thursday Jan 21 and Friday January 22.
