While much of the focus has been on San Diego this week, in Ras al-Khaimah, the America's Cup Defender have been putting Alinghi 5 through her paces as the work up to the 33rd America's Cup, scheduled at this stage for February 2010.
'Without doubt, one of the best days sailing I?ve ever had. A shame it had to end? said Murray Jones as the team arrived back at the dock. ? The conditions this week have once again been superb, allowing the sailing team and designers to keep testing and refining - some days spending up to six hours on the water.
`I?m not sure, I?d have to ask Juan (Vila) but I reckon we must have covered over 3 maybe 400 miles this week. Easily. Certainly feels like it ! ? said Jones.
The design team will spend the rest of the evening analysing the data from the boat. Working into the small hours no doubt. Tomorrow is a scheduled rest day and all being equal Alinghi 5 will be back on the test track on Sunday.
The Alinghi Team have put together a selection of images from the water, for you to enjoy.
