The 2009 MPS Survey is now closed and the results indicate that we have a great future ahead.
This is the 7th year Ovington Boats have conducted the survey.
Below are some key points from the survey, with a link to the full results at the bottom;
- 422 responded to the survey; we had 250 completed scripts; up from 225 in 2008
- 34 non-MPS owners are looking to join the fleet in the next 12 months; of those 7 are looking for new boats
- 111 MPSCA Members voted in the survey; up from 84; there will be some minor rule changes
- Olympic Equipment selection was NOT supported. This is the first time in 7 years that the class has voted against submitting for Olympic equipment consideration
- 58 people plan to go to UK Nationals at HISC, 47 Not sures. Based on this I would expect a fleet of 80+
- 33 people plan to go to Melbourne, 35 Not sures (Much the same as the last survey)
- The age profile of the class is getting younger due to the growth of the youth section; this is also lowering the average weight
- The testing of a smaller mainsail was supported by both the non-owners & owners although not in huge numbers so
I suspect just the light people voted for that :-)
- The addition of some colour to the mainsail was favoured; the option with the black luff was prefered
