Sailors in the ocean around Byron Bay are warned to be on the look-out for floating timber fallen off a shipping freighter. The international shipping freighter MV Mima Saka, which signaled a distress call 20 nautical miles off Yamba this week did so because its cargo had moved and it was listing badly. Gale force conditions forced the freighter's Indonesian crew to cut loose some of its timber load after the ship listed 40 degrees.
