Product of the Week: DinghyRack

'Dinghy rack in place' .
Lifting your dinghy on and off the deck can eventually result in damage to the surface. Sometimes in a hard blow, no matter how good your lashing, a dinghy secured to an uneven slippery surface can move or become loose, requiring an unwelcome extra trip onto the foredeck to re-secure it. The inexpensive DinghyRack has the potential to solve both of these problems.

Even if you use davits for simple journeys, the DinghyRack, which consists of several durable soft foam brackets, may be useful for more adventurous journeys when you want to lash the the inflatable on deck to keep it secure.

The system is flexible enough to cater for any size of dinghy, and the cost is reasonable, at around US$50.00, plus shipping if any, and can be shipped to anywhere in the world. The light weight of the brackets makes this also a relatively inexpensive option.

The DinghyRack uses the lightweight, durable soft foam brackets to support an inflatable upside down, several inches above the surface, to prevent damage that could be caused by a hard transom or oarlocks. The system installs easily and doesn't require any holes to be drilled in the bow.

Just place the brackets on either side of the inflatable bow and on the side pontoons just inside the transom plate and then secure the inflatable with rope or a bungee as you normally would.

The system is available in sets of three or four brackets,

dependent on the size and shape of your inflatable.

Installing a DinghyRack:
Installing the DinghyRack is easy and does not require any holes to be drilled into your bow, and is designed to be installed upside down on the bow of your vessel.

Figure 1 shows the proper position of one DinghyRack bracket installed on the pontoon.

DinghyRack brackets should be placed as shown in Figure 2 or Figure 3, dependent on the size and shape of your dinghy.

Your DinghyRacks are now installed and your inflatable is ready for securing to the bow with rope or bungee cord as you normally would.

As they are made of durable, marine grade foam your DinghyRacks will provide years of service with normal care.
