I see the 2025 units can be converted from handles to boom . Does anyone know if all sizes will use the same length boom and secondly if the boom can be used with previous years units ?
I've used both boom & handles and prefer the handles.
handles and booms have 1 size covering wings 3.5 -6.5 & 1 size under 3m weight difference is boom 50grams lighter.
the handles are a much nicer angle when holding them compared to boom and also closer to the wing so if you have long arms it's also more comfortable on handles.
if you are into freestyle doing loops and passes then the boom for sure but I've got my 4 wings all handles.
the other big upgrade is the new front flag handle.
just had a onshore session on the 5.5 dlab and I think it's prob the best wave wing on the market at moment.

Any indication as to whether the new boom would fit on 2023/24 units ?

No it won't
got my 25 sls 4m
paired with boom
holy guacamolee - finally something really good.
Best boom ive tried, manouvers are very easy, good lift, decent in waves especially with pistol grip. lots of hangtime / glide when jumping
- I would want another battern on each side of the tail. Feels like it will flutter after a few uses.

interesting tech talk with Ken Winner, taking us through all 3 Unit 25 variations:
Here's my review after using various sizes with handles & boom. Boom is 50 grams lighter but I prefer the handles due to nicer angle & back hand closer to strut
Hi ! thanks for the review. How stable is the new unit when surfing or flagging out on a wave? Does the leading edge handle way better than the previous versions ?
The Unit SLS seems a good compromise.
These look super nice. But man, duotone already has a proprietary valve, buy your own leash, and now buy your own handles? On an already pricey wing. Pretty soon you'll have to buy and install your own bladder too.
but I still want one!

It looked to flag out on wave pretty well on Leepasty's video. The leading edge handle is also quite a bit stiffer than last model.

The price including handles or boom is the same as last years that came with handles attached. you now just need to add on in the shop or online as if you don't you will get a wing with no handles
With the boom option now on the 2025 Unit, I'm really hoping the Slick does not get discontinued. I still love the feel, simplicity and reliability of the pocket boom. I make an annual trip from North Carolina to Melbourne (Australia) with four Slicks. They pack up nice and tight. I just leave one boom in Australia so I don't even travel with a long stick..
What do you guys think of this Aluula-PentaTX connection of the new Unit SLS wings (Photo 1)?? In the 1st gen of the Unit DLabs, there was also this single zig-zag stick, which caused the Aluula to rip on the inside of the sticking (Photo 2). Due to the uneven load of the zig-zag and the stress of a single stick on the material. In all the DLabs from the 2nd generation onward, all the sticking is at least a double straight stick (Photo 3). Also with the current '25 DLabs. But with the SLS they went back to the single zig-zag which is a complete mystery to me. Also the center two panels of the Aluula are hold together with a single zig-zag on the '25 SLS wing (Photo 4), while on the '25 DLAb this very same point is done with the double straight sticking (Photo 5). With this SLS wing, especially where two materials of different strengths meet, and this Aluula-tearing problem is know (otherwise they also would not have switched to the other way of sticking), at least the Aluula side in my opinion must be done in the same fashion as the DLab wings. I hope my story is clear and curious what you guys think??
Just got my 5m SLS w/boom, looks amazing, boom is much improved compared to old booms. Stiffer front handle and nice pistol grip on boom. Taking it out later now that our Hurricane passed by, will update.

I can follow your arguments and I see the centre Aluula part being straight stitched alongside the closing seam, whilest the connection of both centre elements got a zig zag seam. Same as the Penta TX strut elements at the conjunction of the Aluula parts. One explanation COULD be, that involving Aluula is more of a cosmetic/marketing argument than substantially technical support for the frames overall stiffness. Meaning that the loads on the seams connecting Penta TX and Aluula are far less than between pure Aluula elements, as Penta TX with far less tensile strength - see below - would provide the relevant forces for the Aluula connecting seams.
But Craig should have the insights beyond speculation I guess.
My biggest concern (in euro real world muddy conditions) is an all white wing and esp leading edge..not sure it will stay pristine for long?!

Looks like PentaTX is only marginally better than Dacron.
What sticks to me: good in the waves, but not real good.
Yeah I read the same (subs) and they seemed pretty "Luke Warm" on its wave credentials...so I'm sticking to the Swing (or new flux maybe!)
anyone translate the jist of the review ?
turn on closed caption, then select language English.

Or perhaps...not good in waves, but better than previous versions

I doubt that is what they meant.being dutch we got a lot German at school, The languages have a lot of in common. It isnt my first language but it as easy to follow as english so don,t need google subtitles that can be okay but missing nuances. I check there reviews quite often. At some stuff they say its good for this and less good/just okay for that compared to the competition.I rather wait for the Flux V2 or maybe go wild and try an AFS Diamond V2 as I really really like there foils.
