Hello.

Just bought myself a new NP Combat. However the mast plug in the sail doesn't fit the mast I was planning to use (too big).
Wondering if anyone has any experience in changing the sail top. Seems awfully fidgety and tight. I'll probably get the original off, but worried that I won't manage to get the new one on. Is a trip to the sail maker the best option?

Thankful for any tip and advice.

Not Vario.

What mast are you planning on using ?
Can you change or modify the mast tip plug ?

It used to be because the NP mast was so different in curve and u had to use their mast. I believe they are more normal now (?) so firstly maybe ascertain compabiity.
then - change sail top plug, or change the plug in the mast?

It's a Corax mast. Cc. I will check if that is possible. Thanks.

According to D Ezzy himself NP nowadays is compatible with Ezzy, and the mast I'm using (Corax) fits my Ezzys perfect.

Or buy another (Ezzy?) mastplug and get rid of the NP one.

Corkscrew works much, much better than pliers and swearing.
And if you need a solid mast plug, you can use a cork!

Without a photo it's hard to understand what doesn't fit. Can you trim the sail plug with a knife to fit the top of the mast?

NP sail has a fat male part that will not fit every other masts top female fitting. sounds like he wants to change the bit on the sail as I guess it's his only NP or mast has to remain as-is for some other reason.

That's what I thought. I've successfully trimmed a fat male plug with a sharp pocket knife to fit a mast top female fitting in the past.

Thanks for all the comments and advice. I think I'll just sell this one, and buy an Ezzy

Really Oyster . your going to sell your Combat and trade it for a Ezzy cos the mast tip is wrong ?
For Gods sake , make a boys night of it , get some beer ,welding gloves a quiver of screwdrivers , pliers and bandaids or change the mast plug. Why cut your face off because of your nose ? You may just like the NP.

I've been here. I got good at getting the sail male plug out of webbing. I cut it, i filed it. I searched and tried different mast female plugs that i had on hand.
Now i've got Ezzy's
