Just in time for Halloween I used my repaired Frankenboard board on a decent day, 8'4 26.25 90l makes the late drops easy!

Ouch clean snap! How did it happen?

I broke it when I was caught inside tensioning leash with board in front of wave creating perfect board guillotine. If I had more time I would have pushed board parallel to the side, or paddled out of the way better but I was surprised leading to a panicky board bail. Longer boards like sups are easy to snap in bigger surf my friend broke 3 in one winter. You can go with stronger construction but it feels stiffer when surfing so there is a trade off. I had this one glassed with 1 extra layer in standing area and carbon rails and stringer patches, next time I might not bother just get standard glassing for best feel. Also my boards being a little thinner might also be weaker. Or just not go out in big surf but is often only way to escape crowds.
