Hi All, has anyone tried the new Zephyr V8? I have an old V2 which has been great for the 10 years I have had it but is now getting old & expensive to maintain. Would appreciate insights on how well the new V8 performs and how it compares to older models. At 115kg I mainly need to use bigger kites and the V2 is my most-used kite. Thanks

Yeah I've tried it several times now in Lennox on downwinders with Surfboard and Twin Tip, by far the best Zephyr yet but its also the most expensive.
The V8 Zephyr is about 1kg lighter than the normal version V7 (Red one now for sale) I had previous to getting the V8. I've always had a Zephyr in my quiver due to the low East Coast winds we got frequently. The old one was not great on a surfboard in 10-12 knots but ok when it was a bit stronger. The V8 actually drifts quite well and the turning is the sharpest of any Zephyr. The bar pressure on the V8 is less than the V7 too and I can easily ride and turn it for downwind surfboard riding. The V8 also boosts really well and definitely better height and hangtime compared to previous versions.
Hit me up if you have any questions?

Keen to hear from some more v8 riders, currently on a v5 considering upgrade. Big rider 6'7" and 120 pork pies. Like the sound of decent drift the v5 loves a Hindenburg in light winds. What can I expect on the water upgrading?

More bottom end, similar wide wind range, way better drift than any other Zephyr, much better turning/steering response and lighter bar pressure.
I rarely ride upwind on the wave face and much prefer to ride downwind on my backhand, I'm substantially smaller than you though at 72 pies these days. I can easily crossover from the 17 V8 down to the new Enduro V5 13M (I previously had a 14m V4 Enduro). On a large Ozone Infinity I can get going in 10-12 knots with the Zephyr and suspect you will get a similar bottom end with the right board under your feet.
