Would you paddle out in Kim Jong-un's backyard?

Kim Jong says: "There's a secret spot on the highway dude, with a fully sick right hander! We've been frothing on it for years!"

One of the worlds most closely guarded nations has opened it's doors to a select few surfers, in the hope that they'll return to the Western world, having discovered some world class breaks that nobody has ever surfed before... After a quick Google Earth search of North Korea, (come on, you too have probably mind-surfed an inaccessible break somewhere on earth through a satellite or two) one spot in particular stands out. It's a right hander off 'Asian Highway 6' that peels gently down a sandy point. Surrounded by sparsely populated farmland, just getting to these places is going to be a challenge for the surf tourists - but at least they're allowed into the country! Traveling to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea isn't easy. In fact there's only a handful of travel companies in the world that can get you in there, and until now, none of those have offered surfing as a possibility. Much less the freedom to explore the countryside in search of decent spots! They barely have internet in the country! Andrea Lee, the Founder and CEO of Uri Tours, which is the company organising the venture, announced that not only will the company be taking surfers in, they'll be laying the foundations for an active surf culture. "Our long term vision is to create a local surf community that both visitors and locals can enjoy. As part of this vision, we received permissions to have local North Koreans participate in the surf camp."

The camp is being run over 8 days, and includes not only the exploration of surfing spots, but some coaching with the coach of the Chinese National Surf Team, Nik Zanella. They set off in mid-september, so expect to see photos from their travels leaked all over the internet once they arrive home.

If you could travel to any place on earth, and explore new surf spots with no restrictions - where would you go?
