The worlds coldest surf photographer - Chris Burkard.

"I found this place right here, is somewhere I can find great joy.”
Instead of wasting time laughing at memes on the internet this lunch hour, why not listen to something inspirational? Surf photographer Chris Burkard tells the world about why he LOVES being a surf photographer, even when he’s shivering in below zero temperatures.

TED Talks are a marvel of the modern age, allowing people all around the world to share their story with millions of others via the internet. People can go watch them live too, which would of course be an incredible experience because only the most interesting, eloquent and thought-provoking public speakers get the honor of giving a ‘TED Talk’.

“I could literally feel the blood try to leave my hands, feet and face. Rushing to protect my vital organs. It’s the coldest I’ve ever been. But even with swollen lips, sunken eyes and cheeks flushed red. I found this place right here, is somewhere I can find great joy.”

You have seen Chris Burkards photographs. They’re everywhere, and not because they’re your typical ‘surf pic’ of some guy in boardshorts and a barrel. He takes pictures in places like Iceland, Russia, Alaska, using snowmobiles packed with surfboards to get to some break that nobody has ever surfed. With icebergs swimming around him, in sub-zero temperatures and surfers who are just as crazy as he is.

But is he really crazy? Listen to the TED talk about why sometimes, you need to get out of your comfort zone to really experience a life worth living…
