How long would you take to get back on the horse?
You heard about it, every surfer did. You probably watched the footage too, with all the heartfelt interviews that went along with it. So think about it for a second, if that was you, if you were the pro surfer that almost got eaten by a 'whitey', would you get back in the water?
It's easy to say 'yeah of course', and to scoff at the notion of never paddling out again. Doing it on the other hand, is a different story, so hats-off to Mick Fanning for getting back on the horse last week after arriving home to Tweed Heads. He posted the above photo on Instagram after the choppy, wind blown session, and wrote:
"First surf back. Feels so good. Surfed by myself but had Andy in my thoughts. Happy Birthday brother"
The Andy he's referring to was his good mate Andy Irons, who died back in November 2010 from a heart attack. It was his birthday, and Mick felt it only appropriate to celebrate by going surfing.
How long would it take you to get back in the water and go surfing after an attack like Mick Fannings?
