Gold Coast pumps thanks to Cyclone Pam

What happens when the World Surfing League spends $100,000 extending the Quiksilver Pro competition window by two days on the Gold Coast? It pumps two days after they all leave!

This week TOS, Currumbin and of course the Superbank are going off for the lucky (or smart) surfing pro’s that chose to stick around.

John John Florence, Jordy Smith, Matt Banting, Brett Simpson and Josh Kerr were among the lineup at the Superbank this week, enjoying clean right handers peeling down the beach all day long. With the prevailing South easters set to continue for a few days, Cyclone Nathan coming back towards the QLD coast and residual swell from Pam, next week looks good too!

Some of the pro’s were in town for the Kirra Teams Challenge, which suffered from a random northerly (for this time of year) to make the final day of competition a little gnarly. Other pro’s just had the foresight to sit it out for a few days and enjoy a classic QLD summer swell.

Maybe that’s why they are the pro’s, and we’re stuck in the office mind-surfing these beauties…
