You thought stand up paddle boards are huge! Check out this 42 foot monster being prepared at Huntington Beach in the USA to set a new world record for the most people ever on a surfboard.

Huntington Beach wants the title of Americas best Surf City. They want it so bad they’ve registered the website surfcityusa.com already in anticipation of the title, and to seal the deal they’ve constructed a 42ft shortboard to break the world record for the largest surfboard to ever be ridden.

A paradox if we ever heard one, this 42ft surfboard is actually a ‘shortboard’. It’s a scaled up version of one of Australian shaper - Nev Hyman’s surfboards, and is being built by the Orange Countys Westerly Marine in conjunction with mouldCAM. Also along for the party are several other local shapers, helping to help turn the board into a tribute to the guy who WAS Huntinging beach, Brett Simpson. It’s even getting the Hurley logos!

The record is going down on the 20th June 2015, when 60 people are going to try and ride the one surfboard all the way into the beach. Sorry to the grommies in charge of waxing the monster!!!! It’s going to take days!
