Air New Zealand uses pro surfers as 'hosties.'

Few airlines give personal safety briefings anymore, they’re all videos! That little speech at the beginning of a commercial flight is sometimes interesting, but usually not.

So continuing with their long running tradition of big-budget safety videos, Air New Zealand has chosen a handful of the worlds best surfers to demonstrate the most important part of any flight – the pre flight safety briefing!

Gabriel Medina, Mick Fanning, Alana Blanchard, plus a whole heap more can be seen adopting the brace position, donning life jackets and putting oxygen masks over their heads (before helping little grommies of course!) They travel to some of the worlds most famous waves to demonstrate these things, all the while sitting in luxurious first class airline seats, looking very out-of-place on the beach. The seats that is, not the surfers.

They look totally cool, even while wearing those seriously dorky lifejackets…
