Luxury Land Sailing in a 70's Trailer-Sailor

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you rigged your trailer-sailor on the ramp (like many do), and hoisted the sails? Would you be able to sail that trailer right down the ramp?

These guys did, and they built a trailer would not only work, but make landsailing in comfort a reality! Imaging being able to sail across the highways of Australia, stopping at night and sleeping in the luxury berths of a mid 70’s trailer-sailor cabin. Oh yes! Those mustard yellow seat cushions arranged on a fold down bed/table/centerboard box. Luxury, luxury we say!

Ok, that’s not the intended purpose here, but it is definitely one upside to your usual land sailing affair. Most land sailors are single person machines, with nothing but a seat, mainsheet and some kind of steering apparatus. This beast on the other hand, is a 20ft trailer-sailor for two, and it’s honking along somewhere in France on one of the most beautiful highways we’ve ever seen.

Why? No idea.

This video is one of four posted on Vimeo by the same guys, with no explanation other than: “This video is about a Land Sailor”.

Legends, bloody legends! Think about it next time you’re rigging in the carpark, but don’t try it!
