Comanche sets sail: Sailors turn green.

Is that not the most amazing yacht, ever?

After being launched with no rigging earlier this month, the brand new 100ft Maxi yacht Comanche has this week, taken to the water under full sail. By full sail, we mean literally as much sail area as you can cram into 100ft of pure awesomeness and carbon fiber.

This thing is huge! Boasting a massive square topped main, genoa that stretches way back past the main cabin, and a code zero swinging off the short bowsprit, Comanche is certainly going to be no slouch in light winds.

Add the canting keel, hard chined hull, lifting J boards and striking paint scheme, and the Sydney to Hobart fleet won’t know what hit it.

Some are saying the ocean will never be the same again…

Setting sail for the first time off Newport, Rhode Island, pictures of Comanche are spreading like wildfire. Never before have sailors been confronted with such a technical marvel, with good looks to match. The highly polished black carbon hull reflects every detail of the water surface below it, and those sails. Oh those sails! Made by North there’s barely a wrinkle in them.

Now she’s ready for action, the crew will begin training for Comanche’s first race, the Australian legend, Sydney to Hobart. It’s still not known whether the boat will be shipped here or sailed by a delivery crew, all we know is that we can’t wait to see it in the flesh!
